Eileen Bettinger is an artist and writer from the San Francisco -Bay Area. Currently based in Santa Barbara, her practice investigates the self in a state of introspection. Exploring constructs of home, companionship, and gender, Bettinger’s work questions how much humans can operate beyond the grasp of societal norms. Who are we when we are alone? How much of that is innate? 

 

Bettinger recently started a blog called, She’s a Shiny Girl as a way to transcend the gallery space. The site discusses art, mental health, and the contemporary social climate. The blog's mission is to make art more accessible, and to normalize a dialogue around mental health while acknowledging the overlap between creativity, mental perception, and daily life.
